Firemen, policemen and veterans -- all in uniform, of course -- will get a free meal on Monday, Memorial Day, thanks to the patriotism of the folks at Sweet Peppers Deli, 1250 N. Germantown Pkwy.
"We encourage the veterans whose uniforms may have 'shrunk' over the years to bring their jackets, insignia or medals to show the younger set," said John Bean, CEO of Eat With Us Group and Sweet Peppers Franchise Systems LLC. "Our staff enjoys meeting these heroes and honoring them each year."
In 2005, the Mississippi-based restaurant firm received the Mississippi Restaurant Neighbor Award from the National Restaurant Association for the effort.
Last year, it served more than 1,000 free salads, sandwiches and wraps to our heroes in uniform.
You know who you are.
