Chefs of Mississippi Award Winners

On Sunday, June 3, 2007, the Mississippi TelCom Center was filled with magnificent chefs preparing dishes to be judged by Cat Cora, Gail Pittman, Stafford DeCambra, Martha Yost and Louis Bruno in categories of taste, originality, and presentation. The Chefs prepared sample tastings for prominant restauranteurs , business and community leaders and individuals enjoying an evening of great food and entertainment. The Gala raised money for the Mississippi Hospitality & Restaurant Association Education Foundation. Mississippi Hospitality & Restaurant Association Education Foundation is proud to provide scholarship funding to deserving students pursuing a post secondary degree in restaurant management or culinary arts. The evening's events kicked off with guest sampling fine cuisine prepared by eighteen top chefs from around Mississippi and the sampling of wines and spirits. Guest mingled and enjoyed entertainment provided by the grand Capitol City Stage Band. MHRA President Richard Chenoweth announced this years MHRA award winners. The 2007 Restaurateur of the Year award was given to Clint Taylor - Purple Parrot/Crescent City Grill. Manager of the Year was awarded to George Goldhoff - Beau Rivage Resort & Casino. Supplier of the Year was awarded to The Merchants Company. 2007 Lodging Property of the Year went to Beau Rivage Resort & Casino. This years Distinguished Service Award was awarded to Steve Mattison - Zing Zang. And the 2007 Caterer of the Year was awarded to Calvin Coleman - Naomi's Catering. Congratulations to all 2007 award winners. The winners of the chefs compition are as follows: Harvey's Restaurant was awarded first place in originality, taste, and presentation. Second place in originality and presentation was awarded to Sophia's. Third place in originality was awarded to Del Sol. Del Sol tied for third place in presentation with Rock Out Catering. Third place in taste was awarded to Huntington's Grille. We congratulate all winners of the compitition. The Peoples Choice award was awarded to Monte's Steak and Seafood. We thank everyone for attending and making dreams come true for young adults pursuing a career in the food industry.
