COTTON DISTRICT GRILL TO HOST STANSBURY CALL-IN SHOW
Starkville, MS -- January 5, 2005
The Cotton District Grill in Starkville has been selected to host "Dawgs Talk with Rick Stansbury", the weekly radio call-in show showcasing Mississippi State men's basketball. The show will be broadcast live each Monday night at 7pm during the remainder of the 2004-05 season.
"There is obviously a lot of excitement about the team this year, especially after last season's SEC Championship. Now that conference play has begun, we hope to have a lot of fan support during the broadcasts," said John Bean, president of the Cotton District Grill.
"Dawgs Talk" will feature commentary by Coach Stansbury and MSU sportscasting legend, Jack Cristil, as well as live questions and comments from the listening audience. It is carried on over 20 affiliate radio stations throughout Mississippi.
Because of the restaurant's loyal following among students and locals alike, Bean was approached several years ago by Larry Templeton, MSU Athletic Director, about hosting the university's live basketball call-in show. After installing the necessary equipment, the Cotton District Grill began broadcasting the "Richard Williams Show" just in time for MSU's run to the NCAA final four. "Dawgs Talk" broadcasts have continued through Coach Rick Stansbury's tenure.
"The live format really generates a lot of excitement in the restaurant, especially during such a successful season," said Silas McDowell, Cotton District Grill general manager. "It draws a lot of students as well as local fans. We hope we'll have another big turnout of bulldog fans this year."
"Dawgs Talk with Rick Stansbury" will be broadcast from the Cotton District Grill at 7pm beginning Monday, January 10. Fans are invited to come and show their support.
