SWEET PEPPERS DELI ADDS SECOND LOCATION IN HATTIESBURG, MS
Hattiesburg, MS -- September 12, 2006
Sweet Peppers Deli opens a second location on Lincoln Road this morning. The evening of September 11th, an opening party was held at Sweet Peppers, Lincoln Road location to benefit the Abbie Rodgers Civitan Camp. All of the proceeds from this invitation only event were donated to the Civitan Camp near Wiggins, Mississippi, which provides the summer camp experience to special needs youth and adults.
The management and staff have experienced a great deal of community support during the construction of the restaurant. “Businesses and residents in the downtown and surrounding areas have let us know they are excited we are opening closer to where they live and work,” said Beth Callahan, franchise owner. This location has been in the works since before Hurricane Katrina. The Hardy Street location was one of the first restaurants to reopen in Hattiesburg after Katrina. “We were working with Hancock Bank, the property owners, in Gulfport, MS when Katrina hit. It took a few months after that to get back on track with the project. Our original business plans were to open in January so we are about 8 months later than we expected,” stated Clark Callahan, franchise owner. This unit will employ about 60 management and hourly staff in addition to the approximately 60 employed currently at the Hardy Street location.
Clark and Beth Callahan, franchise owners, recently received their second franchise of the year award from Sweet Peppers Deli Franchise Systems, LLC.
The Sweet Peppers Deli concept originated in 1997, when Robin Fant, John Bean, Bernard Bean, Myrrl Bean and Robert Fort joined forces. There are currently eight Sweet Peppers Deli restaurants that are located in Columbus, Tupelo, Starkville, and Hattiesburg, MS, Muscle Shoals, AL and Memphis, TN. By the end of 2006 there are plans to open two more locations.
Sweet Peppers Deli offers a menu of salads, soups, signature sandwiches, panini (Italian pressed sandwiches), wraps and scrumptious desserts in a unique atmosphere including neon signs, glass garage doors, and outdoor seating. This location will be the first to offer a drive through, pick up window. If you call ahead you will be able to pick up your healthy alternative to fast food without getting out of your vehicle!
